The upgrade to the item was first introduced in Generation II. This item upgrade allows Porygon2 to evolve in exchange for trade when held.
It can be slotted into weapon gear, armor and trinkets to give a bonus effect or increase its attribute value. However, most upgrade items require the item to be at a certain level before it can be slotted into.

This can be used to recycle any item, such as heroes, weapons, bows or shields, skills and even food. The only exception is when you start weapons. This is different from removing an item which removes it and grants an abundance of resources.
Upgrades make an item stronger. It increases the shield, health, regeneration and strength of its capabilities. item upgrading enhances its damage and impact. It is not upgradeable beyond level 10. You can also transform into to become a hero, weapon or survivor after every 10 levels with pure raindrops and books. The process of evolution takes about 20 minutes.
Substats
The sub-stats of an artifact are random, but they can be improved using several ways. Contrary to the main stats that increase with each upgrade, the sub-stats can be upgraded randomly on any of the four existing slots. The number of sub-stats that an artifact is determined by its rank. Rank 2 has no sub-stats, whereas Rank 5 has five. Each sub-stat has a particular limit it can be produced within, based on its rareness.
If you'd like to increase your chance to get a certain sub-stat, you can use REFINE ARTIFACTS in order to increase the chance by four levels. This will cost you MORA. Another method to increase the sub-stats of an item is to search for duplicates of it. You can then enhance duplicates to increase their rarity or a different set sub-stats. This can be an effective method for players with high levels to boost their character's DPS. However, you should be careful not to overdo this and risk losing your MORA.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens let players roll the item currently in the possession of an item. When rerolling, the item will be exchanged with the level 1 version of the same item however, with different bonuses and a brand new kind of equipment (such as knives, cups, watches, or books). In some instances it is possible to significantly increase its level of ilvl. However, the item will not retain its ilvl level, so rerolling is only useful if the item has rare affixes.
Rerolling an object resets its base power as well as all upgrades and substats. This is helpful in the event that a ring's substats are not what the user wants or if a ring's maximum power was lower than what the user would like. The reroll token can be found from a variety of sources, including the skulled creatures, the mystery box or as a reward for defeating an opponent.
Weapons, armor, rings and other items can all be changed. Weapons can be rerolled for physical power, spell power or health. Rings can be rerolled to increase durability or damage, and armor can be rerolled to lessen damage or increase defense. Rerolling an item that has been crafted will result in a rare-like item of similar characteristics to the ingredient equipment item. However the item that is rerolled won't retain the ilvls of its original owner, and any wasted resources will not be repaid.
Pressing the green button on the menu of items will reroll the item. But the button will not appear on any item currently being used by an item. To reroll an object, the player needs to have at least one token for reroll in his inventory. This button, the player will need to select the stat they wish to reroll and then confirm the action. Rerolls can take longer than anticipated in certain instances. Rerolling systems have numerous possible combinations. In these instances players can also make use of a second reroll token to speed up the process.
