Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
The process of upgrading an item, often known as "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment provides an increase in linearity of any stat.
Players can recycle six items at a time to get a gauge of each item's upgraded component. The cost of recycling an item varies according to its rarity and.
Upgrade components
An upgrade for an item in Guild Wars 2 is a process that can increase the power of your weapons and armor. This can be achieved through a variety of methods such as using upgrade components or increasing an item's rarity or mark level. Many items can also be reforged in order to increase their stats.
Upgradeable items are available all over the game, both within the world and as rewards for missions. Players can also craft them. The most common method of upgrading gear is through the use of upgrade components which are components that can be slotted into equipment. Most equipment has slots for upgrading and some require a specific level of upgrade. Some upgrade components provide specific bonuses, while others give an overall bonus.

There are several types of upgrade elements in the game, such as universal upgrades, inscriptions, and jewels. Universal upgrades, like gemstones and enchantments, can be used in any equipment type and provide smaller bonuses than those that are type specific. Glyphs can only be found in gathering tools. They offer a variety of bonuses, ranging from increasing the speed at which an item gathers to providing extra crafting material.
To upgrade an item, click it from your inventory and open the Upgrade window. The window will show an overview on the right side of the screen that shows the expected stats after the upgrade, as well as any necessary components or materials. If you do not have enough of either, the Upgrade button will show as Blocked.
The upper-right corner displays the number of upgrade components needed for a particular item. The cost of an upgrade increases with the level of upgrade and rarity, but can be reduced through various methods, including purchasing upgrades from a retailer or trading them with other players.
Nearly all weapons can be upgraded with a prefix upgrade for example, an insignia, or a rune, and a lot of them can be upgraded using suffix upgrades. These upgrades add an adjective to the name of the item like "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to communicate visual information. They are animated to grab the viewer's eye and stimulate curiosity. The animation of glyphs resembles body language, making them more effective in conveying a message across linguistic barriers. Glyphs also evoke a sense of familiarity in the brain, increasing retention of the message.
Each glyph has a range of values that it could increase a stat's value in the form of an item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use it to enchant an Artifact. This is the maximum value that a glyph could enhance a stat by, not the amount that it actually improves the stat by. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the tier and the quality of the item you are creating it for.
Most upgrade components slotted into items cannot be repaired or replaced without removing the gear in question, unless it is legendary equipment and upgrades. If, however, you have a non-useful rune or glyph that has not yet been applied to your gear, you can move it to a different piece of equipment by using the Upgrade Glyphs context menu on the Glyphs panel. This will create the new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.
If you are looking to remove the glyph from an item you must salvage it using the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. This will destroy the item in which it is installed but you will be able to salvage the upgraded item with the glyph and its shards, so this should not be considered as a loss.
A glyph added to an item can cause it to become unstable and the shards of that glyph will disappear from your inventory once you remove the item. You can also add an inscription to your equipment to add an extra benefit. Deferred this link , for example, can store damage and be distributed slowly to the wearer rather than all at one time. This is beneficial for players who take a lot damage from enemies but don't want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens allow players to change the affixes of their weapons and equipment, and they can be obtained in various ways, including in mistery boxes or as a rare drop from skulled creatures, or from killing bosses. Each reroll gives the player an unspecified affix, which is generally better than the one they had before. Reroll tokens can also be used to upgrade weapon stats for more damage or bonuses.
Items that have been rerolled will not appear in the item upgrade menu, however they can still receive upgrades. These rerolled items can be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button which alters the appearance of the window and allows up to six items to be chosen to recycle. The gauge of level is increased by recycling an item. This amount is determined by the item's rarity as well as its level, which means items with higher levels are more valuable to recycle than lower-level ones.
Players can also use Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to roll rerolling Weapon Traits for upgraded units. A reroll will roll the percentage chance of a particular weapon trait; if it rolls higher, the weapon is upgraded. If it is lower, the weapon remains unchanged. Weapons can be upgraded up to three times.
Rerolling is an excellent method to improve an item. However, players should be aware of the fact that the total ilvl is diminished by the number of the rerolls required to bring it to the final level. This is evident on rings and Diadems, since they have no other options to raise the ilvl.
The system of rerolls has been criticised by players as being too expensive and it's more equitable to let players pay for it with money or food items that allows them to change their build without a lot of time and effort. However the paid rerolls aren't something the developers are planning to incorporate at this point in the game's development. They are planning to add the ability for players to alter their race in the near future.
Leveling
There are many ways to upgrade an item. The first is to increase the amount of upgrade which boosts the value of upgrading a given stat. The second option is to increase the effect of an upgrade, which boosts damage or healing for an individual stat. The base item can be upgraded to an advanced upgrade type. Once this is done the new item will maintain its iLevel but it will be upgraded with the effects of the upgraded item type.
When you upgrade items, it is important to keep in mind that upgrades aren't always planned. In the majority of cases, a better roll is based on the glyphs. However, there are times when a greater or special roll can occur. The type of item will determine the iLevel. If you upgrade a rare or exclusive item to a unique item type, then it's likely to gaining an upper level.
Upgrades can be expensive particularly if you are upgrading gear from the standard track to the legendary. The price will be based on the item's iLevel base and the amount of upgrade levels it comes with. Some upgrade tracks also require crests to be completed in order to move on to the next level.
If you're fortunate the upgraded item could get to the top of its upgrade track, and thus unlock an additional benefit. This will provide the item with a significant upgrade value. The bonus effect changes with each upgrade level. Generally speaking the effect of upgrading is increased by a number of +3.
The iLevel will also change according to the upgrade path and its base level. For example an item upgraded from a rare or unique item to an exceptional one is likely to gain the enhanced defense of the new base item.
