World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can boost the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. Upgrades also boost bonuses like Crit chance and PvE Damage.
If the weapon's upgrade template ends in %, it will gain an additional 3% of the previous attack damage every time it is upgraded.
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases with item's level.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be put into weapons, armor, and trinkets to give an additional stat boost or impact while they're being used. They can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors trading, or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be placed in equipment that has a slot to accommodate them; the item must be at the very least upgraded to blue level to allow a component to be applied. In contrast to other mods components can only be used once; they can't be used multiple times or replaced by new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a specific kind of upgrade component that is used for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment and some of the items that are not ascending back.
