Path of Exile Item Upgrading
The ability to upgrade items allows players to upgrade their weapons and equipment with new affixes, increasing its base stats or providing additional benefits. To upgrade an item, a player has to have it in their inventory and have access to the kiln.
Typically items that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, whereas objects with strong bases, such as Eth titans don't change much in their stats after being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armors trinkets, weapons and gathering tools. They give you an attribute bonus, or additional effect, when the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, or found as loot by enemies, or received from chests or missions. Certain upgrades come with additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level to upgrade.
In order to upgrade the quality of a weapon or piece armor, the player must select it and then click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. The preview will appear on the right side of the screen showing what the expected upgrade statistics will be, as well as the element or material required for the upgrade to take place.
There are three types of upgrade components that are universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, like gems, can be used on any kind of equipment. They offer a lesser bonus than upgrade components that have a type restriction. Infusions are only placed in gear that is ascended and legendary equipment are exactly the same as jewels but have higher bonuses and cannot be used in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades are able to be placed in gathering tools, will include their name at the end of the name of the item they are connected to, for example adding a Glyph to a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would change it to a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
In the case of upgrades to gather tools, if a player replaces one glyph with another the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. If you replace any other upgrade component the item will be destroyed, with the exception for inscriptions, which can be swapped freely.
Leveling
Path of Exile's upgrade system differs from previous versions in several important ways. Gear is now categorised in tracks, and each item can be upgraded a certain number of times before it's "leveled out." The cost of upgrading increases with each level however the materials required aren't as high. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a select few items and maximize the effect of these items rather than dispersing upgrade costs across multiple pieces.
When an item is leveled out and is leveled out, it will be capable of receiving an upgrade set of components, as well as an increase in the probability that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Energy. It will reset at 0 if the upgrade fails, or increases if the upgrade succeeds.
When a piece of equipment is upgraded to its maximum level it can be eligible to gain affixes which will boost its attributes. The number of affixes that are available will depend on the item's base type. For example an uncommon or unique weapon that has a standard base will only have two affixes. A legend armor will have eight affixes.
Each upgrade step will require a specific amount of Flightstones or Crests, depending on whether the item is at its current level and what slot it is placed in. Weapons will typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If an item fails to reach its maximum level, the NPC offers players the option to transfer it to a new character and then re-infuse it with a new set or upgrades. This procedure can take as long as two hours, and costs the same amount of materials. However it has a lower chance of success.
To determine the height of a building engineers employ an instrument to compare the measurement with an established reference point, such as a benchmark or the elevation of the ground. This method is known as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings using the level and backsight rod and then turning the level to make the foresight rod reading. This method ensures that the buildings are constructed with an extremely high level of accuracy and security.
Rerolling
Rerolling refers to the process of altering an item's upgrade components. It is a very important element of the game and can increase the strength, damage or other attributes. You can do this via the item menu or by pressing the Reroll button whenever you upgrade an item. Rerolling can be costly and should only be used in rare cases.
The game allows players to recycle upgraded items, which can be used to earn tokens for rerolls. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item or a similar item. Recyclable items have an indicator that indicates the amount of upgrade. The rarity and the cost of upgrading an item determines the level of filling.
Prior to this, certain upgrade items were given priority affixes that made them easier to roll. This meant that you'd get the most crucial stats for your build more frequently than other items. This included stats like armor's total armour, thorns and the control impaired duration stats or the weapons' bonus attack speed and strike chance.
This has changed since the latest patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same chances of rolling for every stat. This can be a good or bad thing depending on your requirements and wants from your equipment.
Each upgraded item can also have a unique bonus that increases the item's power by a specific percentage or a flat amount. These bonuses are added into the usual affixes. The more you upgrade a product, the greater your chances of receiving the bonus of a different kind.
The game also has a number sets that give an extra bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are placed on an unit. This is a great method of giving a character a lot more power without spending a ton of money.
Many players choose to reroll their gear and weapons, particularly in the early stages of the game. Rerolling can help you gain a stronger character faster, which allows you to advance in the game and achieve higher tiers.
Sets
Sets are collections of elements that can be organized in different ways. They can have various dimensions, contain no elements at all, or contain just one element. They can be used for organizing data or sorting information. They can also be useful in analyzing patterns. Sets can be classified in many ways, such as by size and shape.
There are many set items that can be upgraded in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some are worth upgrading, others aren't. Sets of armor that offer the highest defense value or set bonuses are usually worth upgrading. However, upgrades to weapons typically don't improve the stats of the item when compared to their purple counterparts. This makes them less appealing to upgrade when your collection of weapons and armor pieces is already large.
Some set items are upgraded for their own special functions, which can be particularly useful in certain builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are a good example of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, increasing their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement was increased as well).
Upgrades are also possible to bring certain items to parity with the tiers. For instance, the Immortal King set has a wide range of levels, ranging between 29 and 76. this link to lower level items can improve their defense, and increase their competitiveness in terms of damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will show the attributes of the item as well as the required items to upgrade it. It will show the item's characteristics, as well as the required items to upgrade it. To upgrade the No-mouth Face for instance, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, as well as 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Alternatively, players can go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to check the requirements for upgrading specific items.
In general, weapons and jewelry offer greater value for trading when fully upgraded than armor. Particularly, for weapons that feature damage glyphs for spells or weapons upgrading them to gold is recommended as it will give a substantial increase in their power. This will also increase the defense value of armor that has an updated appearance.
